Turkish ink firm Bornova Matbaa Mürekkepleri, or DYO Ink, on Saturday opened a new plant in the western province of Manisa with a total investment of 10 million Turkish liras. The new plant will target the Middle East and African markets.

“With more than a 40 percent market share and an annual production capacity of 25.000 tons, Bornova Matbaa Mürekkepleri is the only company in Turkey that produces, markets and sells newspaper and magazine inks, sheet fed offset inks, can coating systems, screen printing, flexo and rotogravure inks,” said İdil Yiğitbaşı, chairwoman of Yaşar Holding, the parent company, talking at the opening ceremony for the biggest ink plant in the Middle East and the Balkans in terms of production capacity.

“The firm is the undisputed leader in the Turkish printing inks market,” Yiğitbaşı told the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review, adding that the plant will produce nearly 300 different items including printing inks, offset printing inks, serigraphy inks and banknote inks for the Central Bank of Turkey.

Located in the industrial zone of Manisa on a 20,000 square-meter campus, the company aims to increase the total export volume to 5 million liras from 3 million liras in the next three years. Yiğitbaşı said, “We expect a growth of approximately 20 percent by next year.” She said that the firm’s future growth zones are mainly the Middle East and Africa.

Yiğitbaşı told journalists at the press meeting that the company has access to all of Turkey’s printing houses through its 40 dealers across the country.

Yiğitbaşı said DYO Ink is able to rapidly satisfy specific customer demands with the support of its new facility located in Manisa, its color mixing center in Istanbul and the dispensing systems available at all dealers.
“Having introduced many special featured products to the Turkish coatings industry, the Yaşar Coatings Group has a proven track record of adding value to products that make them more than just paint but trustable products with high quality.”

Yaşar Coatings Group's five companies, led by DYO Boya, serve the market with 1,000 different products, 3,200 packages and 60,000 different colors under the brand names DYO and Dewilux. The group provides employment for about 1,100 people and exports its production to nearly 40 countries. The group's export markets are primarily Central Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Russia.

At the ceremony, Halil İbrahim Sayar, one of the first distributors of DYO inks in the central province of Konya, gave a calligraphic artwork made by the company’s products as a present to Yiğitbaşı.
